Welcome to Vintage Savoir Faire! Thanks for stopping by.
VSF is the resource for rediscovering long forgotten tips, skills and wisdom. Things our grandmothers (well, more like our great-great-grandmothers) knew as common knowledge, but we’ve collectively forgotten.
What kind of stuff? Cooking real food, making handmade beauty products, knitting, arts&crafts (yay!), preserving & canning food, kitchen remedies for common ailments, and generally living cleaner and greener. (“Carbon footprint?” Great-grandma would tell you to leave your boots on the porch before coming in for lunch.)
Unfortunately, when I got interested in these things, I found all of the other resources online, were, well, not aimed at me!
I am not a home-schooling, country-dwelling, stay-at-home-mom with 4 kids wanting to live 100% sustainably.
I live in the city with my boyfriend, love to travel, love technology, also love being crafty, making things and cooking. I am inspired by old-fashioned things reinvented. Like vintage clothing or subversive embroidery. Love it! Through VSF, I’ll attempt to adapt tidbits from day of yore into cool, practical, fun projects for people like me.
Thanks for joining me here at VSF. I hope you’ll share your own adventures and projects trying to rediscover and adapt vintage skills for our modern lives.
